Helping the forgotten animals of war

War Paws

War Paws is a registered charity helping animals primarily within Iraq but also Syria, Afghanistan and other war zones and areas of civil conflict.  They rescue and rehome in the country of origin but also across the world including the UK, USA and Canada.

As a well-established organisation, War Paws were already running a busy online shop and taking donations in a number of different currencies. However they wanted to change the overall look of the website and offer a more modern and clean design. Unfortunately this was not something they could easily achieve with the limits of their previous website. We decided that instead of a simple revamp, a brand new website would be far more beneficial and allow for future growth.

From a design perspective we’ve tweaked the logo to include a dog’s paw, added an updated tagline and introduced forest green throughout the website to complement their signature colour of violet. We’ve used parallax scrolling on the homepage which adds a subtle element of depth and the different sections offer multiple calls to action to link with other parts of the website. Improved social media integration was a priority and with a floating social media icon bar and a Facebook feed widget in the footer, visitors are able to engage more effectively.

Making a donation is now much improved providing the charity with further revenue streams and allowing the donor more flexibility. Each fundraising campaign allows the donor to pay in their choice of currency, sign up for Gift Aid and even help cover transaction fees. They can see how each campaign is doing with a progress bar and they have a choice of how much they donate.

Finally a rethink of the main navigation menu means that visitors can now find each page quicker and with less clicks. The addition of a FAQ page makes the user experience much more convenient and ensures that those interested in War Paws engage and interact further with the charity rather than leaving with unanswered questions.
